A History

Tomahawk Paddle Boards is part Arizona and part California.  I grew up in a small town called Payson AZ.  Nestled beneath the Mogollon Rim, Payson serves as a play ground for out door enthusiasts.  I grew up Skateboarding, Snowboarding, and Wake Boarding.  One summer we took a trip to San Diego and I saw the ocean for the first time.  That trip changed my life.  My dad bough me a used surfboard, and I spent a week trying to get up on it.  My parents couldn’t pull me out of the water.  Soon after high school ended, I packed up my stuff and moved to Los Angeles.  I bought a surfboard before I even secured a place to live.

After five years of surfing, playing music, and getting married, my wife and I decided to move closer to her family in Fresno, CA.  Fresno is 2.5 hours from the closest beach, so surfing became difficult.  Feeling a need to fill a huge hole, I took up white water kayaking.  Like surfing, this sport has changed my life.  I found in kayaking something I never felt in surfing, a sense of community, teamwork, and no egos.

The biggest problem with kayaking, is that it has a short season in CA.  March through May is when the snow melts off the Sierras and water fills the rivers.  During the summer, fall, and winter, you can either travel long distances to boat, or do something else.  On a random trip to Santa Cruz, my friend Dan and I discovered Stand Up Paddling.  We rented a board and spent the next few hours laughing and riding waves.  I was hooked instantly.  With SUP, I can combine my two favorite sports.  I now have the surfboard and waves, but also a paddle. The best part is, I can SUP anywhere.  Oceans, rivers, and lakes are all my playground.

The Freedom To Surf Anywhere

Tomahawk Paddle Boards was founded on the notion that with Stand Up Paddle Boards, now anyone can surf.  If you live by the ocean, you now have the freedom to find uncrowded breaks.  If you live inland, you can surf river waves, boat waves, or just glide down the water at your local lake.  Paddle boards can be used for fitness, for exploration, or for an afternoon escape. 

Tomahawk teamed up with renowned surfboard shapers to create a line of boards that excel in both performance and durability.  Our boards surf better than any other board on the market.  They are lighter, faster, and last longer then anything you will find on the water.  Our board graphics are a combination of Arizona and California.  Two different worlds brought together by one amazing sport.

The goal is to have a surf company that you feel a part of.  If we are not achieving this goal, we want to hear about it.  If our products are not up to snuff, tell us.  If you want a dealer that is closer to you, let us know who they are and we’ll call them.  Additionally, if you had a great surf session, send us some pictures.  We’ll post any pictures or videos you send in,  right on our homepage.  Tomahawk Paddle boards is your company and we want you to enjoy it for years to come.
